Coming to The Ohio EMS Conference on May 16-17, 2016? Need a new Broselow tape?
From our friends at the Ohio Division of EMS:
The Ohio EMS for Children Program has multiple Broselow tapes available for distribution to EMS agencies who either do not have a length-weight based tape preference, or use the Broselow tapes already.
If you plan to attend The Ohio EMS Conference and would like to pick up these pediatric guides for your ambulances, please e-mail Joe Stack, Ohio EMSC Coordinator, at EMSC@dps.ohio.gov for more information.
FREE Concepts in Process Improvement Course for EMS, ED, Trauma, and Public Safety Professionals at The Ohio EMS Conference, May 17, 2016 in Columbus Ohio.
From the Ohio Division of EMS:
Process Improvement (PI) in the EMS world is largely an unknown, with anecdotal evidence suggesting its most common use is to “kill the bad apples. ”Concepts in Process Improvement” is a hands-on course designed to teach what PI truly is and how to start a PI activity.
The CPI course is designed for EMS, ED, trauma, and public safety professionals. Generously funded by the Ohio EMS for Children program, the 4-hour courses are conducted by staff from the Ohio Department of Public Safety, EMS Division, free of charge.
We hope you can join us for a CPI course at The Ohio EMS Conference presented by OhioHealth on May 17, 2016 at the Great Columbus Convention Center. Visit OhioEMSConference.com for conference and CPI information registration. Please note that there is a separate registration for CPI, in addition to, the conference registration.
There is no charge for either The Ohio EMS Conference or the CPI Course.

American Heart Association Mission: Lifeline 2015 EMS Recognition Application Now Open Until February 28
From the American Heart Association:
The American Heart Association recognizes the critical life-saving role prehospital emergency services provide to the overall success of a STEMI system of care. The availability of 12-lead ECGs and well trained EMS providers allow for rapid identification of STEMIs, early activation of hospital emergency and cardiac teams and transportation to a STEMI Receiving or Referral center for immediate care. In 2014, the American Heart Association launched a program to recognize emergency service agencies that met the AHA/ACC guideline recommendations for prehospital STEMI care. In the first year there were more than 200 prehospital agencies in the US that applied and received the American Heart Association Mission: Lifeline STEMI EMS Recognition including 22 agencies from Ohio including:

What would you do if a firefighter in turnout gear with SCBA needs CPR?
We hope it doesn’t happen, but firefighting is a high-risk profession and you need to be ready if it does. This is an innovative way to approach the care of a firefighter down that needs CPR.

We Have Not Forgotten
On September 11, 2001, tragedy struck our country, the world and our hearts. Of the 2,977 people killed in the attacks on our homeland, 343 brothers and sisters of the New York City Fire Department, 37 police officers of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police Department, 23 police officers of the New York City Police Department, 8 emergency medical technicians and paramedics from New York City hospital EMS units and three New York State Court Officers perished.
Today, among others, we pause to remember these brave professionals who, without pause, raced into the destruction, giving their lives in the ultimate sacrifice.
