Grant STEMI program recognized by AHA’s Mission: Lifeline

Grant Medical Center’s STEMI (ST-elevation myocardial infarction) program has been recognized for its commitment to a higher standard of care for heart attack patients with the American Heart Association’s “Mission: Lifeline Silver Performance Achievement Award.” Lory Winland, American Heart Association Ohio Mission:Lifeline Director said “Unlike the Olympics, silver doesn’t mean that you finished in second place.  A silver award means you achieved this level over four full quarters, or one year.”

In 12 consecutive months, Grant’s STEMI program has treated 92 percent of eligible STEMI patients within 90 minutes, a timeframe recommended by the American Heart Association. Our treatment rate outperforms the Ohio rate of 65 percent and the national rate of 63 percent. These figures are made possible by our skilled team of physicians and nurses and our coordination with Emergency Medical Services (EMS). This year, there are only 226 hospitals across the nation and only 18 hospitals in Ohio that received this award. Of those 18 hospitals in Ohio, only four received the Silver–level award.
