ODOT Columbus Grant Avenue Bridge Project Update

GRANT AVE BRIDGE CLOSES JANUARY 9, 2018

Part of the current construction project to improve the Interstate 70/71 downtown ‘split’ includes tearing down the current Grant Avenue Bridge- which is more than 50 years old– and replacing it with a new one.

To prepare for demolition, the bridge will close Tuesday, January 9 at 8 AM. That means  overnight lane closures and restrictions for drivers. Advance notification of traffic impacts will be provided.

Please visit OHGO.com to get the most up to date traffic information.

The new Grant Avenue bridge is expected to open later this fall, weather permitting.

The new bridge (rendering below) features wider sidewalks, a bike lane, improved lighting and aesthetics.

Along with a new bridge at Grant Avenue, the current project improves Mound Street between 4th and High Streets by adding granite curbs, brick crosswalks, decorative signals, lighting and landscaping. The project also converts Fulton Street to one-way eastbound from 4th to Washington.

During construction, Grant Avenue traffic will be detoured.

Southbound Grant Ave. Detour: Mound St. WB to 3rd SB to Livingston head east.

Northbound Grant Ave Detour: Livingston EB to Parsons NB to Main St. head west.

The $31 million project which started this past spring is expected to be complete by late fall 2018.
